Save Time and Stress!
Don’t you hate when you go to the doctor and they request that you get blood work done, but you have to go to a completely different place on a different day to do it? At Olney Medical, we understand that having your blood drawn is never a pleasant or easy procedure. We know it’s frustrating trying to find a lab in the Olney area when you have a busy schedule. So to help our patients, we have an in-house phlebotomist. Phlebotomists are experienced medical professionals who draw blood.
We would hate for you to have to lose time at work or have to deal with rushing to get a blood test during your lunch break. You don’t want to waste your time, so saving it is certainly important to us. Our unique practice model makes it possible to get a same day doctor’s appointment, and our investment in an in-house phlebotomist keeps you from having to make multiple appointments.
We think it’s important to invest in one person who can efficiently and properly draw blood to make our patients lives easier.
Can I Eat or Drink Before Having a Blood Test?
It all depends on the type of blood test you are having. Dr. Taubman will tell you whether or not you need to fast before your test. You can eat and drink as normal before your blood test unless told otherwise. Many times you won’t know you are getting your blood drawn until you come in for your doctor’s appointment.
What Can I Expect When I Get My Blood Drawn?
No one looks forward to getting their blood drawn, but thankfully our trained phlebotomist makes the procedure uneventful and quick. The phlebotomist will start by gently pressing her fingers against your skin to find the best vein to draw the blood from. Next, they will tie a tourniquet around your upper arm to increase blood flow to the vein, this well make it easier to enter the vein. She will clean the area and insert the needle. Engaging in conversation is a great way to relax and take your mind off of the procedure. Once the needle is in, you can barely feel the blood being drawn.
